Working with stakeholders

Stakeholders and partners will be essential to your success in designing and delivering your CSR approach. How much do you know about their interest in CSR and the ways in which they can help you?

This section of the toolkit gives you some simple steps to identify:

  • who are the most significant actors in your region
  • the type of approach you might find most effective

An interest chart
The first step is to know who the local interested parties are. Typically these include local business organisations, business schools and university departments, NGOs, elected representatives. There are also important interested people in other parts of your own organisation.

Gathering information about their activities will enable you to fill a simple
chart of their interests.

You can use this at the level of overall interest in CSR or to identify likely partners on specific issues or initiatives.

The example suggests likely CSR interest areas but you can choose your own.
